Hi, my name is Hugh Feeney. I am a PGA teaching professional at Athlone Golf Academy, Castleknock Golf Club and Elmgreen Driving Range.
I have been fortunate enough to have experienced success as a coach both in Ireland and abroad, helping golfers to achieve; national and provincial titles as well as scratch cups and golf scholarships. I have a proven track record of improving golfers of all skill levels.
My coaching beliefs have been influenced by the work of; biomechanics, sports scientists, sports psychologists, other golf coaches, along with other practitioners in the wider domain of professional sport. By drawing from such a broad range of expertise I offer a holistic approach to coaching golf which best serves the varying needs of any individual golfer.
In 2015 after returning from Melbourne where I spent two years as a senior golf coach at Golftec Australia, my commitment to improving golfers lead me to move to the United Kingdom where I undertook a 12 month full-time Masters in Sports Biomechanics, attending Manchester Metropolitan University.
I am currently the only PGA Professional in Ireland with a Masters in Sports Biomechanics. My Masters culminated with me doing an original piece of research on how weight transfer in the golf swing affects performance.
I use my own scientific findings on a daily basis to improve golfers of all skill levels.
In over 10 years of teaching the game I have never seen two golfers with the same swing, anatomy or personality. This is why I believe in an approach of measuring every individual and never guessing. My analysis of any golfer is specific to them as an individual, making sure firstly, of the correct concept being attempted and secondly, of a match up between technique and body capability.
